Will I be billed for the instances that are shut off and how can I shut it off?

Instances that you shut off do not incur any charges, but all the resources that were associated with it continue to incur charges. Please note that you only pay for the time your instance runs and any extra storage volumes you utilize.

You can shut off instances by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Login to your account.

Step 2: Navigate to the Services section and click on My Services.

Step 3: Click on your project.

Step 4: Navigate to Compute then select Instances.

Step 5: Select the instance from the list that you want to shut off.

Step 6: Click on the Actions drop-down and select Shut Off Instance.

Step 7: Click on Shut Off Instance to complete the process.

You will get a message "Success: Shut Off Instance: Instance1" on successfully shutting down of instance.

You can again start the instance by clicking on Start Instance.
